It hits mainly Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, etc. Its still part of the US development since it hits those states. The reason why its so important to the US is because its such a big amount of water and it actually had helped the US economy, causing a good US development.

c. Further, it has to be strategically located and be set up near the sources of raw material. For instance, Iron and Steel Plants at Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Rourkela (Orissa), Bhilai (Chhattisgarh) and Durgapur (West Bengal) have been set up near the sources of raw material i.e., Iron ore.

d. Also to ensure regular water supply, For example TISCO gets water supply from Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers. Piitusburgh is located near great lakes.
