What was Phoebe's goal/mission in Catcher in the Rye?
Liono4ka [1.6K]

Answer:

Phoebe, then, serves as a guide and surrogate for the audience. Because she knows her brother fully than we do, we assume her judgments about him. Our devotion to the narrator fails slightly once we hear her side of the story.

Refer to paragraph 11. "She seemed terribly nice."<br>Identify the underlined figure of speech.
vesna_86 [32]

Answer:

That is an oxymoron.

Explanation:

An oxymoron is a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction. In this case, the contradictory terms that are in conjunction are "terribly" and "nice". These words are words that mean the opposite of each other - with terribly usually being used to describe something bad - and nice being used to describe something good - and are being put together.
