We Both Live in the Same Village

by Rabindranath Tagore

We both live in the same village and that is our one piece of joy.

The yellow bird sings in their tree and makes my heart dance with gladness.

Her pair of pet lambs come to graze near the shade of our garden.

If they stray into our barley field I take them up in my arms.

The name of our village is Khanjuna, and Anjana they call our river;

My name is known to all the village and her name is Ranjana.

Only one field lies between us.

Bees that have hived in our grove go to seek honey in theirs.

Flowers launched from their landing stairs come floating by the stream where we bathe.

Baskets of dried kusm flowers come from their fields to our market.

The name of our village is Khanjuna, and Anjana they call our river;

My name is known to all the village and her name is Ranjana.

The lane that winds to their house is fragrant in the spring with mango flowers.

When their linseed is ripe for harvest, the hemp is in bloom in our field.

The stars that smile on their cottage send us the same twinkling look.

The rain that floods their tank makes glad our Kadam forest.

The name of our village is Khanjuna, and Anjana they call our river;

My name is known to all the village and her name is Ranjana.

Read the passage from The Importance of Being Earnest.
Whitepunk [10]

Based on the information in the paragraph, the reader can conclude Cecily values looks over knowledge.

What is this excerpt about?

This excerpt focuses on Cecily's reluctance to learn German as she seems to consider this knowledge useless.

What can be concluded from this paragraph?

One conclusion from this paragraph is that Cecily values look over knowledge. This is because:

 • Cecily thinks learning something new is not very useful and his uncle is just too serious.
 • Cecily mentions "I know perfectly well that I look quite plain after my German lesson", which shows she thinks appearance is important to her.

Which description explains why there are two neap tides per month? Earth rotates in and out of a tidal bulge created by gravitat
earnstyle [38]

There are two neap tides per month because:

The moon and sun are at a 90-degree angle to Earth twice a month.

Neap tides are also known as moderate tides. The lunar tide is partially cancelled when the moon and the sun are at a 90-degree angle to Earth, or being at right angles. This event happens twice a month thus creating neap tides twice a month also.

Answer and Explanation:

1. Scout talked to Mr Cunningham primarily because she is embarrassed and nervous. When she sees Atticus confronting the mob in front of the jailhouse, she does not know what was actually wrong, but she instinctively wants to go to her father and by doing so, she finds herself in front of a crowd of unfamiliar faces and she is the center of attention because everyone was watching her.

It is a relief when she finds Mr. Cunningham in the crowd and Her talk with him is simply polite conversation, meant to cover her awkwardness, but his acknowledgement of her means that he can no longer fade into the crowd, and must take responsibility for being present.

2. The passage opens with Scout revealing that she is aware of the tangled state of Mr. Cunningham’s affairs as the only lawyer in town, Atticus would be the person Mr. Cunningham would have sought advice from.He is therefore in debt to Atticus for his services which is a debt that could have only partially been met through the gesture of giving Scout’s family hickory nuts, which signals his impoverished state. Scout also went ahead to as well reveals that Cunningham’s son Walter has shared the midday meal with her family in the past, revealing that the kindness Atticus has shown to the father through his encouraging advice and has also been extended to his son. Ultimately the cumulative weight of recollecting these small acts of kindness by Atticus and Scout moves Mr. Cunningham to relent and disperse the crowd of vigilantes with him.

3.They put the law aside and threaten with "pack" violence
