Answer:

Answer is explained in the explanation section below.

Explanation:

Solution:

This question discusses about the concept of subsidy. Let's first get to know what is subsidy.

Well, subsidy is a financial relief that usually governments give to their people and industries to grow the economy of the country and to give relief to the common people of the country. For example, if a country is importing gas on the rates of $4 per gallon, then as a subsidy it will provide the gas to industries and people to $2 per gallon. It seems as a good idea but it has serious repercussions as well. It may be terrible idea as well, let's see how.

1. Higher amounts of taxes:

The amount that common people and industries get as a subsidy is basically driven out from the people in the form of taxes. Governments raise funds for the subsidy from the tax collection of the country. So, if the subsidies are given then, there is a high probability that, government will impose higher taxes on the people of the country.

2. Misuse:

Obviously, if government gives subsidies then opportunists and people who hoard goods will misuse and buy huge amounts in less prices and sell it in the original prices. It can disturb the demand and supply curve and hence raise the inflation in turn.

3. Supply deficiency:

With subsidies on goods comes deficiency of supplies as well. Due to less prices of a particular good in the market, demand can go huge. Consequently, it can create supply deficiency and will eventually contribute in removing of the subsidies.

Which of the following would cause a leftward shift of the supply curve for computers? A. an increase in the price of printed ci
Margaret [11]

Answer:

The answer is A.

Explanation:

All other things being equal, an increase in the cost of production of a product will decrease the units of the product being reduced and this reduction in supply shifts the supply curve to left while a decrease in the cost of production will increase the units of the product being produced and this shifts the supply curve to the right.

Printed circuit boards is one of the materials used to build computers and since the price has increased, the cost of producing computer also increases and this will make the producers to produce less, shifting the supply curve to the left.

Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer:

(a) (i) Define the term "Green Revolution" as used during the period 1945 to 1985.

  • The use of modern agricultural techniques became widespread around many regions in the world. This led to higher yields through the use of fertilizers, pesticides, genetically modified seeds and mechanical machinery.

(ii) Explain the principal agricultural practices/technologies associated with the green revolution.

  • extensive use of fertilizers, pesticides, genetically modified seeds and mechanical machinery.

(iii) Name TWO regions, in different parts of the world, where the green revolution has had a significant impact on crop yields.

  • In North America, Mexican food production increased and they stopped importing food. Although currently that has reversed, and it is importing even more food than before.
  • In Brazil, agricultural production increased dramatically. Both total farmed area and yields have continued to increase in the past years becoming a threat to the amazon basin.

(b) Identify and discuss TWO social, political, or cultural conditions necessary for the success of the agricultural practices/technologies of the green revolution.

  • Emigration from rural areas to urban areas which resulted in a rapid expansion of urban centers. Since less labor was needed in farms, many people left rural areas due to lack of jobs.
  • People started accepting genetically modified crops, which were not well accepted at first. A lot of money was invested in research and development of new seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.

(c) Identify and discuss TWO significant economic or ecological factors that may limit the long-term success of the agricultural practices/technologies of the green revolution.

  • Many new agricultural techniques have resulted in a decrease of soil fertility. In many places crops cannot grow unless a lot of fertilizer is used.
  • Countries were the green revolution was originally successful, like Mexico (where it started), have reduced the total area dedicated to crops. As the yields increased, the price of food started to decrease and many small farms could not keep operating.

Neko [114]

Answer:

D. ensure that she credits the loan amount accurately to the customer’s account

Explanation:

Erin needs to address this legal responsibility, and "arranging an informal meeting with the customer" is not a legal responsibility. Similarly, C is not a legal responsibility, and in fact, it is a crime. And E is not a legal responsibility. These details are not being given at the time of sanctioning the loan. However, D is certainly a legal responsibility as Erin needs to ensure that she credits the loan amount accurately to the customer's account.
