The U.S. entered WW1 for 2 main reasons. The Germans used U-boats to sink the Lusitania, a merchant ship that departed from New York, with 1,962 passengers. The ship was spotted near the coast of Ireland, and was shot down with torpedoes, leaving 1,198 dead, 128 of them being American. Later, Germany sent Mexico, a neighboring country to the U.S., The Zimmerman Telegram. This telegram offered an alliance between the two countries, and stated if the Central Powers Won, Mexico would own territory in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona..

Results:

Manufacturing, production, and efficiency increased in large amounts causing America to become a world industrial leader. Inflation also increase, causing workers to be laid off in oreder to keep down the costs of operating.
