<u><em>Answer:</em></u>

  • After the birth of their son, Atalanta and her husband were transformed into lions, because it was believed that they either insulted Zeus or Aphrodite.

<em><u>Explanation:</u></em>

Hippomenes and Atalanta occupied with sexual relations in the sanctuary of Cybele, generally contaminating it. This annoyed Cybele, and as discipline, transformed them to lions. Hippomenes tested Atalanta to a race. He petitioned the goddess Venus to support him. She gave him three gold apples which he used to divert her from the race and in the long run success. After his triumph, Hippomenes neglected to offer gratitude to Venus. Offended by this absence of appreciation, she expanded their enthusiastic reaction among Hippomenes and Atalanta which drove them off to their action in the sanctuary to Cybele. While Venus helped Hippomenes win the hand of Atalanta, she additionally helped the couple progress toward becoming lions.
