I would assume because of the large buildings that the Egyptians constantly built and most if not all Egyptian buildings were geometric by being built with measurements and angles. I am sure the pyramids needed many calculations to build in the right spot alsoooo farmland was extremely important to maintain the population so measurements of the land were needed to properly produce a good amount of food.
