Perhaps the most significant technological advance during World War I was the improvement of the machine gun, a weapon originally developed by an American, Hiram Maxim. They also developed air-cooled machine guns for airplanes and improved those used on the ground, making them lighter and easier to move. The planning and conduct of war in 1914 were crucially influenced by the invention of new weapons and the improvement of existing types since the Franco-German War of 1870–71. The chief developments of the intervening period had been the machine gun and the rapid-fire field artillery gun.

Why did conservatives oppose the new deal? a. They thought Roosevelt was not doing enough to provide relief. b. They believed it
yuradex [85]

The correct answer is B) They believed it gave the government too much power in the economy.

Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal Program was meant to help America recover from the Great Depression. One way in which Roosevelt wanted to accomplish this was by creating several different federal work programs. This includes programs like the Works Progress Administration, Civilian Conservation Corp, etc.

However, conservatives felt that the economy works best when the government has little involvement. This is why they opposed these federal programs.
