2. The preamble sets the stage for the Constitution (Archives.gov). It clearly communicates the intentions of the framers and the purpose of the document. The preamble is an introduction to the highest law of the land; it is not the law. It does not define government powers or individual rights.

3. In federal systems, political authority is divided between two autonomous sets of governments, one national and the other subnational, both of which operate directly upon the people.

4. The three branches of the US federal government are Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches.

5. The Constitution divided the Government into three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. The President in the executive branch can veto a law, but the legislative branch can override that veto with enough votes.

6. The Bill of Rights is the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution. ... It guarantees civil rights and liberties to the individual—like freedom of speech, press, and religion. It sets rules for due process of law and reserves all powers not delegated to the Federal Government to the people or the States.

7. Congress may submit a proposed constitutional amendment to the states, if the proposed amendment language is approved by a two-thirds vote of both houses.

  • Notification of the states.  
  • Ratification by three-fourths of the states.
  • Tracking state actions.
  • Announcement.

8. Those Amendments did many things, freed the slaves, gave women right to vote, gave 18 year olds right to vote, etc.

10.  We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
