In the topic sentence which highlights a major point the author wanted to stress about books, he stated that books are one of the greatest resources available to mankind today. To support this statement he explained that one of the benefits of books is their ability to connect us with great thinkers.

Coming to think of it we see that this is true. If I read a book written by an author in a far away country, I will be able to have a glimpse of his thought processes. Thus, I can learn a thing or two from the writer and connect to him even though I am not close to him physically.
