What clue does the narrator's repeated lament, "what can one do?' give the reader about her personality? (pg. 1) Describe other
Vera_Pavlovna [14]

This question refers to the story "The Yellow Wallpaper." In this story, we meet a woman who is sick, according to her husband. He is a doctor, and the treatment that he suggests for her is complete rest and relaxation, which eventually leads her to insanity.

When the narrator repeateadly laments "what can we do?" we get a glimpse of her passivity and the way in which she defers all decisions to her husband. Other aspects of the personality of this woman are the fact that she considers her husband to know best, even though she disagrees with the treatment and is mad at the possibility of receiving it. The woman appears to be conflicted in her emotions because she outwardly seems to really value her husband's opinion, and appears to be ready to listen to everything he says. At the same time, she appears to be mad about his behaviour and hold some resentment towards him or their marriage.

Ksju [112]
The lines from <span>"The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe which help to create the dark and gloomy tone of the poem are your second option:

</span>
<span>Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore—

It is midnight, so it is dark. Dreary means gloomy, so this should be the correct answer.

The Pros and Cons of labeling young children<br> as having a particular disability
zzz [600]

Hello!

Answer:

There are both advantages and disadvantages to being labeled as a child with special needs.

<u>Advantages: </u>

Individualized Education Program

An obvious pro of labeling a child who has special needs in the classroom is that teachers can use this information to help the child learn using their limitations as a guide.

Extra Learning Support

By labeling a child, they will receive extra services that they may not have been able to receive otherwise. For example, the child may be able to receive instruction in a learning support room at a pace that works for them.

Targeted Instruction

Kivi says that by labeling the child as «learning disabled» these students are able to get help in order to remediate their specific problem.

<u>Disadvantages: </u>

Low Self-Esteem for the Student

There are many laws in place that protect the rights of students with disabilities including access to services and helping to ensure these students are not discriminated against. These students may feel that they cannot do well in school or are not smart.

Lower Expectations from Parents & Teachers

Basically, if the teachers and parents don’t believe in the child, then the child won’t believe in himself either. «Lower expectations sets up the student for failure,» Newsome says.

Peer Issues

Fellow students can be mean and make fun of the student with special needs because they are different. Parents are considered to be full and equal members of the IEP team, along with school personnel. Because parents have inside knowledge of their child’s strengths and needs, they are crucial members of the team. «Parents have the right to be involved in meetings that discuss the identification, evaluation, IEP development and educational placement of their children,» says Newsome.
