A paper company needs to ship paper to a large printing business. The paper will be shipped in small boxes and large boxes. The

volume of each small box is 6 cubic feet and the volume of each large box is 12 cubic feet. There were twice as many small boxes shipped as large boxes shipped and the total volume of all boxes was 168 cubic feet. Write a system of equations that could be used to determine the number of small boxes shipped and the number of large boxes shipped. Define the variables that you use to write the system.

Answer:

A paper company needs to ship paper to a large printing business. The paper will be shipped in small boxes and large boxes. The volume of each small box is 6 cubic feet and the volume of each large box is 12 cubic feet. There were twice as many small boxes shipped as large boxes shipped and the total volume of all boxes was 168 cubic feet. Write a system of equations that could be used to determine the number of small boxes shipped and the number of large boxes shipped. Define the variables that you use to write the system.

\underline{\text{Define Variables:}}

Define Variables:

May choose any letters.

\text{Let }s=

Let s=

\,\,\text{the number of small boxes shipped}

the number of small boxes shipped

\text{Let }l=

Let l=

\,\,\text{the number of large boxes shipped}

the number of large boxes shipped

Each small box has a volume of 6 cubic feet, so the volume of ss small boxes would be 6s6s cubic feet. Each large box has a volume of 12 cubic feet, so the volume of ll large boxes would be 12l12l cubic feet. Therefore, the total volume 6s+12l6s+12l equals 168:168:

6s+12l=168

6s+12l=168

Since there were twice as many small boxes shipped as large boxes, there were more small boxes, so if we multiply 2 by the number of large boxes, we will get the number of small boxes, meaning ss equals 2l.2l.

let s = number of small boxes shipped

let l= number of large boxes shipped

6s+121 = 168

s=21

A cell phone plan has a monthly cost that is shown in the table below. What is the correct statement regarding the average rate
BARSIC [14]

Answer:

Second from top...

The average rate of change is $0.07, meaning that for each minute of talk time, the monthly bill increases by $0.07.

Step-by-step explanation:

Pick any two points and calculate the slope which will represent the rate of change:

  (Minutes, Cost)

  (0, 9.95)

  (10, 10.65)

Rate of change:

slope m = (y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)

             = (10.65 - 9.95) / (10 - 0)

             = 0.7 / 10

             = 0.07

y is cost

m is rate of change

x is minute(s) use

b is fixed monthly cost regardless if any minutes is used

  y = mx + b

  y = .07x + 9.95

Amee received an end of year bonus of $1550 at work and went on a shopping spree. She spent $225 at the department store, $275 a
atroni [7]

Answer: She has $1022 left.

Step-by-step explanation:

The total amount that Amee received an the end of year as bonus at work is $1550.

She went on a shopping spree, spending $225 at the department store, $275 at the home furnishing store, and $28 at the card shop. Therefore, the total amount that she spent at the department store, the home furnishing store, and the card shop is

225 + 275 + 28 = $528

Therefore, the total amount of her bonus that she has left is

1550 - 528 = $1022

Use a graphing calculator to solve the equation -2sin(theta)= 1.2 in the interval from 0 to 2pi.
elena-s [515]

Answer:

\theta=\pi +arcsin(\frac{3}{5})\approx 3.785\\\\\theta=2\pi -arcsin(\frac{3}{5} ) \approx 5.64

Step-by-step explanation:

As you can see from the graph I attached you, the possible solutions in the interval from 0 to 2π are approximately:

\theta=3.7\\\\and\\\\\theta=5.7

So, it's useful to solve the equation too, in order to verify the result:

-2sin(\theta)=1.2\\\\sin(\theta)=-\frac{3}{5}

Taking the inverse sine of both sides:

\theta=\pi +arcsin(\frac{3}{5})\approx 3.785\\\\\theta=2\pi -arcsin(\frac{3}{5} ) \approx 5.64

Using this result we can conclude the solutions in the interval from 0 to 2π are approximately:

\theta\approx 3.785\\\\\theta \approx 5.64

Solve the inequality x-4 < - 3.Then graph the solution set.show your work.
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

x < 1

Step-by-step explanation:

x - 4 < - 3

<u>  + 4    +4</u>                        Do inverse operations by adding 4 on both sides

    x < 1

Therefore, the answer is x < 1.

(It isn't allowing me to attach a photo but I am just going to try make a visual of the graph below)

<------------------------------o------------------>

-4    -3    -2    -1     0    1     2    3      4

The circle is open because based on the concept that in inequalities, <em>less/greater than and/or equal to (such as these ≥ ≤ )</em> signs are graphed with closed circles, while less/greater than (like these > <) signs are graphed with open circles. The direction of the arrow is moving to the left on the number line because all possible values for x would be less than 1. When graphing the inequality you would use a solid line rather than a dashed line (I had to improvise since I could not attach an image).
