God covenanted with His peple to bless them forever as long as they were faithful to Him. Throughout the history of the Israelites, whenever they faced an enemy, God protected them, so long as they trusted completely in His providence. King David and his kingdom are a clear example of this. Unfortunately, the Israelites cycled between faithfulness and idolatry.
