Answer:

B. a special purpose map

Explanation:

A map can be defined as a representation of all or some parts of the Earth drawn to scale on a flat surface.

A physical map can be defined as a graphical representation of an area of land or water body illustrating roads, cities, physical features, etc.

A physical map is depicting elevation when it is used to show how much above (high) or below (low) sea level a physical feature sea level such as mountains, hills, plains, valley, etc.

There are different types of map and these include;

I. A political map.

II. A thematic map.

III. A topographic map.

IV. A special purpose map.

Topography can be defined as the shape and structure of the Earth surface. Thus, a topographic map is used to graphically describe this features.

A topographic map can be defined as an accurate and detailed graphical (two-dimensional) description, representation or records of both natural and man-made (artificial) features on the surface of the Earth.

Basically, the two-dimensional model of a topographic map graphically represents the height of a mount and the steepness of a slope through the use of contour lines.

Contours can be defined imaginary lines used for connecting locations that are having similar elevations on the Earth's surface. These contour lines are typically used for modeling the three-dimensional shape of the Earth surface in a topographic map.

Generally, elevations are represented on maps by lines of contour, which typically connect points having the same elevation. Also, elevations are shown on a physical map by using bands of color to connect points.

In Geography, elevations are represented or measured in feets or meters

A special purpose map is designed to be typically used for a specific purpose or category of things.

In conclusion, a special purpose map is a type of map that can be used to show mining resources on the African continent.

How has the physical geography of the United States
Usimov [2.4K]

The geography of the United States impacts the possible regions people settle in.

Areas that tend to be flat (or small amounts of small hills) tend to be the most population areas because it is easier to build houses, apartments, etc etc. However there is very few places people have settled where National Parks and Mountains are located because it is unstable and extremely difficult to make a house in that region.
