Negative language can impact children negatively. For example it can give the child a bad complex about themselves. It can make them insecure about themselves or things that they do. Along with that they can start using that negative language In their daily life which can negatively effect other people!

Slowly as children grow older, the negative statements used by their parents start having a stronger impact on their emotional development. They feel unloved, unwanted, undeserved and unprotected. ... It affects their emotional, cognitive and social development. They grow up with feelings of 'not being perfect'.

The things you say are the things they are going to grow up saying. ... Your words have the ability to easily hurt your children, even if you don't realize it. Those words that you fling at them in frustration may be words that they remember for the rest of their lives.

Hope this helped :)

An environmental factor that contributes to mental illness is __________.
Leviafan [203]

The correct answer is B.

An environmental factor refers to an external influence present in your environment, so in this case it would be poverty. Poverty can contribute to mental illness as it can be very emotionally as well as physically destructive to live in poverty. Also those living in poverty are least likely to get any help for their health as they are unable to. Intelligence and high self esteem would be personality/cognitive factors and a supportive family would be a social factor.
