I would say due to isolation from the Pacific Ocean it would be more difficult for surrounding countries to attack, and life on water has developed Japan’s distinctive cultural foods such as exotic seafood.
Personally, i believe that it was more harmful actually.
First of all, there were many accounts of inequality and discrimination towards the indigenous population - which is not surprising as the belief was that not Christians are not really humans
