A river meeting the ocean. The river spreads into a triangular shape.
jeyben [28]

When a river meets an ocean and spreads into what looks like a triangular shape, the landform or body of water being created is called a Delta.

Deltas are:

 • Formed at the point where a river meets another body of water
 • Formed such that they have a triangular shape
 • Caused by water erosion

Deltas take a triangular shape at the mouth of a river when the river is meeting a water body such as a lake or ocean.

They form because of water erosion resulting from when the river picks up soil particles and carries them to its mouth where they are deposited and obstruct the flow of water thereby creating a delta.

In conclusion, erosion causes a delta to form when water carries soil and deposits it at its mouth.

which tool is best suited to determine which minerals are present in a rock sample while working in the lab
Bas_tet [7]
There are many ways to determine what minerals are present in a sample. You can observe its color, streak, luster, magnetism, cleavage and hardness. Obviously, you can see what color it is and whether it is metallic or cloudy, but other tests may be required. Streak is tested by rubbing the mineral onto a streak slab of concrete to see what color the powder is. Magnetism is determined by putting a magnet next to the sample, or placing it next to a dish of iron filings. Cleavage is determined by cracking the sample to see the way it fractures. Finally, to determine hardness, you scratch test rocks with the sample, like as controls. I hope this answered your question. (Also, questions like this would best fit under chemistry, because geography is the study of political land)

Pre-9/11, How much of Afghanistan did the northern alliance have control of?
Black_prince [1.1K]
By 2001 the Northern Alliance controlled less than 10% of the country, cornered in the north-east and based in Badakhshan province. The US invaded Afghanistan, providing support to Northern Alliance troops on the ground in a two-month war against the Taliban, which they won in December 2001.
