Nationalism is a phenomenon that began to emerge after the French Revolution and the American Revolutionary War. Nationalism is an attachment to one's own national identity. Nationalists strive for a community of people within their state and share the same cultural, historical, traditional, and religious values. Nationalism can be very dangerous because radical nationalists see their nation as superior to some others. The ideas propagated by radical nationalists can be militaristic. Hitler was a radical nationalist. He considered Germans to be superior to others. Nationalism is very close to racism. Yet there are also moderate nationalists, who love their own national identity, are proud of it, and do not consider other nations less valuable.
