Answer:

Observations occur when we can see something happening. In contrast, inferences are what we figure out based on an experience. Helping students understand when information is implied, or not directly stated, will improve their skill in drawing conclusions and making inferences.

Answer:

Without evidence you have no information to base your claim on which means you cannot make a strong point. If you were to claim something but not have any evidence to back it up you would not have a valid claim.

How did Montresor ensure that no servers were around to witness the crime in the cask of Amontillado
iren [92.7K]

Montresor tells all of his servants that they must stay in the house. He also tells him that he is going out and will not return until much later. Since the story takes place during a popular festival, the servants want to leave and join the partying. Montresor knows that if he tells the servants he won't be back for a while the servants will leave the house anyways. Since he is not there to make sure that they are doing what he's asked, the servants will go off and do whatever they want.

What is the message hawthrone is trying to communicate about the veil by calling it a mysterious emblem
Wittaler [7]

The message Hawthrone is trying to communicate about the veil by calling it a mysterious emblem represents sins that he cannot confess to anybody.

The Minister's Black Veil

 • Mr. Hooper's black veil represents sins, darkness, and secrecy in Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Minister's Black Veil" in order to represent sins that he cannot confess to anybody, the darkness around his face and neighbors, and secrecy regarding the black veil.
 • The black veil is a representation of human sin in many different forms used by Hawthorne.
 • From the beginning of the novel until his death at the conclusion, the minister, Parson Hooper, wears the veil in the hopes that his congregation will understand why he is doing so, even though they never do.
 • The lesson of "The Minister's Black Veil" is that people are estranged from those around them because of hidden misdeeds.

How is this excerpt of an expository essay organized? EXCERPT: CONVERSATIONAL BALLGAMES
tekilochka [14]

I searched the excerpt which name is conversational ballgames and after I read it I got to the conclusion that it is organized the following way:

1. First, the author COMPARES the western-style conversation with the tennis game and she says that they are similar because in the western style when the person who is talking introduce a topic then she/he is expecting the other person to agree or disagree and keep talking about the reasons why, she says that she only doesn’t wait for you to agree or disagree, she expected more than that. Just like in the tennis game, if you throw the ball you expect from the other person to hit it back.

2. And then, when the author talks about Japanese-style conversation, she says that it isn’t like tennis or volleyball at all; there, she CONTRASTS the Japanese-style conversation with the two other games saying how different the games are from the Japanese-style.
