Then a significant correlation means that we have a (measurable) correlation between the variables in our experiment.
Now, the factors are the variables that experimenters control during an experiment in order to determine their effect on the response variable, then having a positive correlation between two factors, means that when we change one, the other is also affected by the change in the first one.
