Ben Miliam gathered his troops and surrounded San Antonio on October 12, 1835. After a 56-day siege of the town by the troops of Ben Miliam, Cos surrendered the San Antonio de Béxar and its weapons to the Texians on December 9 due to the tensions between Mexico City and Mexican Texas increased and then he proceeded to retreat back across the Rio Grande.
