I believe that according to my former history teacher, It is A because for one the definition makes sense in the statement
Not sure what this is from, but based on the way this was worded, I would most likely assume that her mother was killed by the Russians.

I'm not sure if this counts, but I've definitely gave in to eating at a restaurant that I didnt want to go in order to make my wife happy. Or another example is that if I told my friends that I would go hang out with them just to make them happy. Hope this helped give some examples.
