Answer: Nondisjunction is the failure of one or more pairs of homologous chromosomes or sister chromatids to separate normally during mitosis or meiosis. During mitosis, this can cause cancer. During meiosis, this can cause Down syndrome, Turner's syndrome, and Klinefelter's syndrome.
