What is a submersible? What type of recording devices might be found aboard a submersible?
kaheart [24]

Answer:

The difference between a submarine and a submersible is a submarine has enough power to leave port and come back to port under its own power. A submersible has very limited power reserves so it needs a mother ship that can launch it and recover it.A submersible is a small watercraft designed to operate underwater. The term submersible is often used to differentiate from other underwater vessels known as submarines, in that a submarine is a fully autonomous craft, capable of renewing its own power and breathing air, whereas a submersible is usually supported by a surface vessel, platform, shore team or sometimes a larger submarine. In common usage by the general public, however, the word submarine may be used to describe a craft that is by the technical definition actually a submersible. There are many types of submersibles, including both manned and unmanned craft, otherwise known as remotely operated vehicles or ROVs.Submersibles have many uses worldwide, such as oceanography, underwater archaeology, ocean exploration, adventure, equipment maintenance and recovery, and underwater videography.

The Northwest Territories could apply for statehood with the Confederation when each of their populations reached __________.
Marianna [84]

The Northwest Territories could apply for statehood with the Confederation when each of their populations reached 60,000 free inhabitants, including women.

What does applying for statehood mean under the Northwest Ordinance?

It stated that each district would be eligible for statehood whenever its population matched that of the least populated current state and that each district would be able to send one representative to Congress once it reached a population of 20,000. (The Regulation of 1787 replaced this ordinance.)

Its name was changed to the Northwest Ordinance and it established a way for the territories northwest of the Ohio River, which included what would eventually become the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, and a portion of Minnesota, to become independent states.

How much warning time did residents of Sumatra have before the 2004 tsunami hit land?
Katarina [22]
Sad to say, the warning time that the residents of Sumatra had before the 2004 tsunami hit land was close from little to none. A rough estimation would around 15 - 30 minutes. They say that the primary cause would be that there wasn't any warning systems over the Indian Ocean at that time. Another thing, which is what most people who knew about it would point out as the real problem, is that there was no issuance of a warning in the first place. The quake was detected an hour or so before the tsunami occurred in the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre located in Ewo, Hawaii. At that moment, the information was relayed to Australia and to the rest of the world. The question wasn't why the Centre didn't issue a warning, but why the whole world network of information didn't issue one. They say that other sophisticated data were available at that time and almost immediately since the tsunami was active.
