Which best describes how Tinker v. Des Moines expanded protected speech under the First Amendment?
Lostsunrise [7]

B. The decision affirmed the protection of symbolic speech.

In Schneck v. the United States (1919), the Court's resolution supported the limitation of symbolic speech in the form of anti-war brochures which inspired residents to resist the draft. In two following cases, Thornhill v. Alabama (1940) and Virginia v. Barnette (1943), the Court ordered in favor of First Amendment security for symbolic speech. By favouring the students, the Supreme Court guaranteed that the students had the right to free speech inside schools as long as it did not disturb the education process.
