Read the excerpt below from “The Fisherman” by David McCord and answer the question that follows. The little boy is fishing With
a green fishline, And he has got me wishing that his line were mine. The little boy is fishing With a fresh-cut pole, And he has got me wishing For his fishing hole. Source: McCord, David. “The Fisherman.” Houghton Mifflin English. Ed. Shirley M. Haley-James. New York: Houghton Mifflin, 1990. Google Books. Web. 18 May 2011. Which technique does McCord use when he allows each line to run into the next?]\
Enjambment refers to the running-over of a sentence or phrase from one poetic line to the next without a terminating punctuation mark. The word comes from French, and it means "to step over." This means that the idea of a line does not come to an end at the line break, but moves over to the next line. This is the case in this example, as McCord allows each line to run into the next.
Sentence B. is correct. Sentance C. Should have been "Even his mother admitted he danced terrible." sentance A and B used badly in properly so that only leaves B.
As personification is when an inanimate object is given characteristics of something living, like "the sun smiled at me" The sentence does not do that, so it is hyperbole.
