Fibroblasts can be placed on thin sheets of silicone rubber. Under normal circumstances, fibroblasts exert sufficient tension on

the rubber so that it visibly wrinkles. Explain how the ability of fibroblasts to wrinkle rubber would change if the cells were treated with a permeable form of C3 transferase, a toxin (from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum) that covalently modifies an amino acid in Rho. The modification renders Rho unable to bind to proteins that it would normally bind to when active.

Answer:

C3 transferase decreases Rho activity and contractility by decreasing the number of stress fibers and thus also reducing wrinkles

Explanation:

Rho protein is a small GTPase, i.e., an enzyme that binds GTP to hydrolyze it to GDP, which is known to mediate the formation of stress fibers and focal adhesion. Rho protein is involved in diverse cellular functions including, among others, adhesion, motility, and division by reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton. The bacterial toxin C3 transferase derived from Clostridium botulinum is able to lock Rho in an inactive state. C3 transferase adds an ADP-ribose to Rho, thereby leading to the accumulation of a Rho-guanine nucleotide dissociation inhibitor (GDI) complex in the cytoplasm. In consequence, C3 transferase functions to decrease contractility by blocking Rho activity, decreasing the number of stress fibers and leading to a reduction in wrinkles.

A. Burning natural gas

A liquid changing to gas is called boiling or evaporation.A gas change into a solid is called deposition and a gas changing into a liquid is called condensation.half of these are endothermic, meaning they absorb heat from their surroundings.the others are exothermic,meaning they release heat. To be considered part of the same population organisms must have a reasonable chance of mating with each other. Are two wild ros
IRISSAK [1]

Two questions have been asked, and responded to

Answer:

For question 1: The statement is true

For question 2: Yes, the two wild roses are of the same population

Explanation:

Population is simply the total number of organisms of the same species LIVING and BREEDING together in a given area.

I) To be considered part of the same population, two of more organisms MUST BE able to mate i.e produce gametes that are viable enough to fuse together and create new offsprings.

2) Yes! Two wild roses separated by a wide road belong to the SAME POPULATION because

- it is still a given area or habitat

- transfer of pollen grains by agents such as wind or insects is possible, thus breeding still occurs.

A new kind of tulip is produced that develops only purple or pink flowers. Assume that flower color is controlled by a single-ge
g100num [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

the purple allele (C) is dominant to the pink allele (c).

The frequency of C represents p while that of c represent q. Using the formula p+q= 1

The proportion of pink flower is 153/1000 = 0.153. This is also the frequency of the genotype cc (q^2).

Thud to find q which is the frequency of the c allele,

q = √0.153

q = 0.3912

From the formula p +q = 1 we can find p p = 1 - 0.3912

p which is the frequency of the C allele

p = 0.6088.

B. the proportion of all purple flowering plants that are heterozygotes and homozygotes is 847 / 1000 = 0.847
