Sarah,

Let x = cost of notebook

let y = cost of thumbdrive

For Troy   5x + 5y = 75

For Lisa    2x + 6y = 78

Troy's equation let's divide it by 5 and get

x+ y = 15     multiply by -2

-2x -2y  = -30

2x + 6y = 78    Add equations

      4y = 48

Solve for y.  Then plug it in one of the original equations and solve for x.  Check by plugging into the other original equations

Cone A has a radius of 12 inches and Cone B has a radius of 30 inches. If the cones are similar and the volume of Cone A is 48 f
Vika [28.1K]

Answer:

750 ft^3

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the cones are similar, the first step would be to determine their linear scale factor; That is the ratio of their radii;

\frac{RadiusB}{RadiusA}=\frac{30}{12}=2.5

The next step is to determine the volume scale factors. Since the linear scale factor is 2.5, the volume scale factor would be;

volume scale factor = (linear scale factor)^3

                                 = 2.5^3 = 125/8

The volume of Cone B will thus be;

volume of Cone A * volume scale factor = 48 * 125/8 = 750 ft^3

Say there are 2 candles per every 20 cakes. How many candles would there be for every 60 cakes?
abruzzese [7]

Answer:

There would be 6 candles.

Step-by-step explanation:

So you said that there would be 2 candles per 20 cakes, so I simplified it to 1 candle per 10 cakes. So, if there were 60 cakes, there would be 6 candles.

I hope it helped!
