Dear, Mr. Brown

I am writing this letter to you because, I would like permission to be on leave from school today.

Yesterday after school, while I was walking home I stepped on a nail. Now everytime I walk, it hurts. Our family physician (Dr. Forman), said I should be able to walk comfortably after a week.

I bet you're asking yourself, "Why Was He Walking Home Barefoot? It Doesn't Make Any Sense". You see Mr. Brown, during third period my shoe broke and I've been walking around barefoot the entire day. Fred was with me the entire time and is my witness.

Don't worry, during this leave I will definitely catch up on all missed notes or worksheets and I will complete all my homework.

Please contact both my parents to confirm my leave.

Mrs. A. McGill: 555-675-3456

Mr. S. McGill: 555-787-2398

Sincerely,

- Jay McGill

zhuklara [117]

Answer:

Douglass also attributes the comfort of the year to his solidarity with the other slaves. Douglass recalls that he loved them and that they operated together as a single community. Though Douglass remains with Freeland for another year in 1835, by this time he desires his freedom more strongly than ever.
