Whic is an example of an allusion from "the love song of J. Alfred Prufrock"?
iVinArrow [24]

An allusion is a figure of speech that involves a (generally covert) referrence to something (another text, an object, a circumstance) from another context. Eliot was an extremely literate man, and his poems are filled to the brim with allusions. In "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" we can find the phrase "And indeed there will be time" twice (lines 23 and 37) which constitutes an allusion to "To His Coy Mistress", a poem by Andrew Marvell that Eliot admired. Marvell's poem questions whether there will be "world enough and time"; Eliot's speaker in this poem answers that "indeed there will be time".

16. Which proofreading mark shows that you want to delete a word
nikdorinn [45]

A proofreading mark that shows that you want to delete a word is a straight line through the word.

Explanation:

Proofreading is the process of reading a written or printed copy of a publication in order to detect and correct errors in the text.

There are many proofreading marks that indicate what kind of mistake has been noticed by the proofreader. In the picture below, we can see four examples.

  • The first one is the mark used to indicate that a letter or a word needs to be deleted. If a letter needs to be deleted, a diagonal line through the letter is made, along with the delete mark in the margin . Similar is done when a word needs to be deleted, except a line is made through the entire word.
  • The second mark indicates that a new paragraph should be made.
  • The third mark shows that space is needed.
  • The last mark indicates an addition or subscript.
