The Constitution fixed the weakness by allowing the central government certain powers/rights ... Congress now has the right to levy taxes. Congress has the ability to regulate trade between states and other countries.

City-State:

Kingdom:
a country, state, or territory ruled by a king or queen.
a realm associated with or regarded as being under the control of a particular person or thing.
Empire:
an extensive group of states or countries under a single supreme authority, formerly especially an emperor or empress.
Village: a small town without king or queen.
That they were pieces of information/code that were meant for people to abide by. While all of the different codes/laws were different from each other and each had a distinctive set of rules, all of them had in common that they were designed as general rules that peopel should follow in a certain society.
