Mainly becuase of the stock market crash In America, prices soared and investments were failing. After this, many ther countries also went into a depression and it all started from America. Than when the country was low on money, banks panicked and shut down and many savings and money was lost, and it wasn’t given, it was gone. This is what mainly caused the Great Depression in America.
The affected would be the slaves since they don't get one dime from all their hard back breaking labouring work they do on the plantations that sell those certain goods that they were selling.
They came mostly from Latin America and Asia. I know this because during that time the war in south Korea was going on and a lot of immigrants from that area came flooding in trying to get away from the war. Hope I helped. :)
