The answer is 7 jumps.

The solution to the problem is as follows:
The frog advances 2 feet with each jump, but he jumps 3 feet, so the 7th jump, starting at 12 feet, brings him to 15 feet, which takes him out of the hole."

In other words, each time he jumps, and it took him 7 jumps to get out of the whole, as on the 6th jump he was able to get 12 ft high, and on the 7th he got 15 ft high, 1/2 feet over the hole, so he doesn't slid back a foot. </span>

Basically, the frog only jumps two feet every time, so he would need 8 jumps, because there was still that extra 1/2 of a foot.
