What is the author’s message in “Winner Crowned at Miss Northern Iowa Child Pageant”?
Aleks [24]

Answer:

The author's message is that children's beauty contests are controversial and may not present benefits for children.

Explanation:

In “Winner Crowned at Miss Northern Iowa Child Pageant” the author shows how even among many parents who encourage and support their children to participate in beauty contests, there are many parents who do not believe that this is a healthy and beneficial competition for children, making these beauty contests very controversial.

Parents who are against this type of contest, claim that children are used as a spectacle, painted in a way that even adult women would rule, in addition to not being taught with good and constructive values, being used as an object for the benefit of administrators and not themselves.

Read the excerpt from “A Poem for My Librarian, Mrs. Long.”
alexira [117]
The correct option is this: Young children are not allowed to borrow books on their own.
From the above excerpt, we can see that the writer is a young child who loves to read. Mrs Long usually ask her the books she desires to read and when she mentioned them, Mrs long will go to the town library, to get the books for her.
Mrs Long has to do this because children are not giving the privilege of borrowing books.

What literary device is a parent in the title of the poem war is kind and what Effect does it have on the readers interpretation
Dmitriy789 [7]

The literary device of irony.

Irony is the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect. This idea of expressing the opposite of what is actually being said/wrote is present on the title: in this case, by the use of the word "Kind".

The effect it has on the reader's interpretation is then to read the poem in a way that recognizes the irony on it.
