Answer:

The correct answer is C. It is false that Santa Anna’s ruthless treatment of the Texas rebels ended at Goliad where General Urrea defied his orders to massacre over 350 captured Texans.

Explanation:

The Battle of the Alamo was a siege during the Texas War of Independence (1836). The Alamo was a Catholic mission building in San Antonio, the center of the Texas Independence Movement. The Texas War of Independence was a military conflict between Mexico and rebels who fought for independence from Texas, part of the Mexican state of Coahuila y Texas at the time. The war ended with the independence of the Republic of Texas.

On February 23, 1836, Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna with 5,000 soldiers raided the city garrison where 180 to 200 Texan warriors were stationed, including colonists Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie. The limited group of Texans withdrew to the Alamo. They would not surrender and the siege would last until March 6. The Texans ran out of ammunition and were then stormed by the Mexicans. All men were killed.
