Answer:

1) Autotrophs have the ability to make their own food through<em> </em><em>photosy</em><em>nthesis</em><em> </em>or <em>chemosynth</em><em>esis</em><em>.</em>

They are also known as producers.

Heterotrophs cannot create their own food therefore depend directly or indirectly on the Autotrophs for their food and are therefore called consumers.

2) The two food making processes include <em>chemo</em><em>synthesis</em> and <em>photosy</em><em>nthesis</em><em>.</em><em> </em>

  • Chemosynthesis is simply a process in which some
  • organisms use chemical energy instead of light
  • energy to produce "food." Such organisms include Nitrosomonas, <u>Nictrobacter</u><u> </u>, etc
  • Photosynthesis is the
  • process by which green plants and
  • certain other organisms transform
  • light energy into chemical energy.
  • During photosynthesis in green
  • plants, light energy is captured and
  • used to convert water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into
  • oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds.

Photosynthesis provides over 99 percent of the

energy for life on earth. It is often considered to be the single

most important life process on Earth. It changes light

energy into chemical energy and also releases

oxygen. Without photosynthesis, there would be no

oxygen in the atmosphere.

3) The flow of energy through living organisms begins

with photosynthesis. Green plants make their food then, when heterotrophs feed on them, there is a transfer of energy. When a bigger heterotroph feed on the previous one, a lesser amount of energy is transferred til the chain gets to the decomposers.

For instance,

<em>Grasses</em><em> </em><em>→</em><em> </em><em>G</em><em>r</em><em>a</em><em>s</em><em>s</em><em> </em><em>eating </em><em>Mice</em><em> </em><em>→</em><em> </em><em>Snake</em><em> </em><em>→</em><em> </em><em>Hornbill</em>

<em> </em><em> </em>

<em>The</em><em> </em><em>grasses</em><em> </em><em>are </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>producers</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>mice</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>snake</em><em> </em><em>and </em><em>hornbill</em><em> </em><em>are</em><em> </em><em>the</em><em> </em><em>primary</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>second</em><em>ary</em><em> </em><em>and </em><em>tertia</em><em>ry</em><em> </em><em>consumers</em><em> </em><em>respectivel</em><em>y</em><em>.</em><em> </em><em>In</em><em> </em><em>each</em><em>,</em><em> </em><em>there</em><em> </em><em>is</em><em> </em><em>a</em><em> </em><em>flow</em><em> </em><em>of</em><em> </em><em> </em><em>chem</em><em>ical</em><em> </em><em>energy</em><em> </em><em>and </em><em>a</em><em> </em><em>re</em><em>l</em><em>e</em><em>a</em><em>s</em><em>e</em><em> </em><em>of</em><em> </em><em>heat</em><em> </em><em>energy</em><em>.</em><em> </em><em>This</em><em> </em><em>flow</em><em> </em><em>of</em><em> </em><em>ener</em><em>gy</em><em> </em><em>i</em><em>s</em><em> </em><em>unidirec</em><em>tional</em><em>.</em>

Anatomical features that are fully developed and functional in one group of organisms but reduced and functionless in a similar
Kryger [21]

We can confirm that Anatomical features that are fully developed and functional in one group of organisms but reduced and functionless in a similar group are termed vestigial.

<h3>What are vestigial features?</h3>

These can be thought of as features that belonged to ancestors of a specific species and are no longer needed, and thus have been reduced to functionless vestiges through many generations of evolution. The appendix is one such example in humans.

Therefore, we can confirm that Anatomical features that are fully developed and functional in one group of organisms but reduced and functionless in a similar group are termed vestigial.
