Answer:

1. hyperbole → It exaggerates the size of the ice cream cone.

2. simile → A comparison to a small bird using "like" was made.

3. personification → Human qualities were given to the fire.

4. metaphor → A comparison between a car and a dinosaur was made without the help of "like" or "as".

5. personification → Human qualities were given to the stars.

6. hyperbole →  It exaggerates the size of her smile.

Explanation:

Hyperbole is a figure of speech that exaggerates something with the purpose of giving it emphasis. For example: I called you a million times. It is practically impossible to actually call someone a million times. But we say it to emphasize we called that person a lot.

Simile and metaphor are both figures of speech used to make comparisons. The only difference is that a simile relies on words such as "like" or "as" to make the comparison. For example: Your eyes are like stars. (simile) / Your eyes are stars. (metaphor)

Personification is a figure of speech in which human qualities or abilities are attributed to inanimate objects, animals, or natural phenomena. For example: Early morning, the birds talked and laughed happily.

Explanation:

TOPIC:  SHOULD VIDEO GAMES BE BANNED?

Video games always provide a great pass time activity for children. There are many types of games and they are so addictive that when a child is not controlled, they can spend all their time playing the games. The game a child plays can be a good or a bad thing in their life. For example, children who learn how to play chess online as a video game at a young age usually show signs of high levels of intelligence. However, the same case does not apply for most video games. Due to this reason, I think video games should be banned.

The effects of video games are as varied as the number of the games. One effect that is common with all of them is their addiction. This can be a terrible thing because a child might not do any productive activity whenever at home. This means that they do not study when at home or even do their assignments. Consequently, their performance at school definitely decreases. Moreover, the child could sacrifice development of their talent such as attending a music class just for the purpose of playing a violent game.

Another effect that has caused ripples among parents and the society in general is the possible violent behaviour in kids who play such games. Several studies have been conducted to investigate the relationship between such games and violent behaviour in children. Controlled experiments place little emphasis on this relationship. The obtained results show that the negative effects of such games are quite minimal. It has been observed that violence displayed on television such as in action movies or video games that create death scenes has more chances of  leading to violence in children than regular games. However, it is important to note that when a child plays a violent game, they are likely to experience some mental effects. These effects include an increase of both heart rate and brain activity.

Hence, there is also an observation regarding these games and their players where children who are naturally aggressive prefer playing this type of games to others. This observation can unlikely lower the chances of violent games leading to violent behaviour in children. When interviewed, some kids who play this type of games say that they are not negatively affected by the games. This is definitely backed up by their violent behaviour already caused by the video game which they haven’t noticed yet.

Therefore, it is safe to say that non-violent games not on a device rarely lead to violent behaviour in children compared to online video games that are violent or not violent. However, they are not beneficial to the children because of their addictive nature, which can destroy a child’s growth. As previously said, video games can be dangerous and affect children’s health and respect. In conclusion from the 3 statements I made previously, this is why I think video games should be banned.

Reread this passage and answer the following 4 questions. This story is called Athena & Arachne.
vesna_86 [32]
Hi! This is one of my favorite stories and here are the answers/ my opinions.

1) Arachne's pride and bigheadedness causes her to be blind to the praise she is given

2) Arachne could have thanked the old lady and accepted her advice.

3) She disrespects the numerous gods in the woven cloth.

4) Athena could have seen forgiveness or could have given Arachne the prize for winning (even though in Athenas place it was only right Archne was punished)

Hope I helped, tell me if I'm wrong!
