An enclave is a territory or country with boundaries that are completely within the boundaries of another country. Lesotho is a common example, as it is completely surrounded by South Africa. An exclave is a portion of a country that is separated geographically from the country's mainland. Gibraltar, located on Spain's coast, is an exclave of the United Kingdom. Kaliningrad is an exclave of Russia.

If it is 6:00 Sunday morning in New York, what are the day and time in Auckland, New Zealand?
andriy [413]
New York is 5 zones west of GMT.
New Zealand is 12 zones east of GMT.

-- If both places are on Standard time, or both are on Daylight/Summer/Fast time,
then it's 11:00 PM Sunday night anywhere in New Zealand.

-- If only New York is on Daylight time, then it's 10:00 PM in New Zealand.

-- If only New Zealand is on Daylight time ... (I'm not even sure they do Daylight
time over there) ... then it's 12:00 midnight Sunday night in New Zealand.

The changes to Boston's harbor and land area are examples of the ability of __________ to manipulate and change the __________.
Juliette [100K]

Answer:

A. culture . . . environment

Explanation:

Boston, including its harbor and the land area surrounding it, have experienced lot of changes over the course of the past few centuries. The people of course have been responsible for these changes, as they have been the ones performing the actions that led to the changes, based on their culture, perceptions, and needs.

Every culture has its own unique characteristics and trademark features, and that is almost always seen in the manner in which the environment is changed by the humans. The culture pretty much dictates what will be built, how it will be built, the organization, the aesthetics, the meaning. Simply said, the culture is a key component of the changes inflicted on the environment by the humans.
