Add 2x to both sides

x + 2x +6 = -3

Combine like terms

Subtract 6 from both sides

3x = - 3 - 6

3x = -9

Divide both sides by 3

x = -9/3

x = -3

Plug in s = -3 in equation (I)

y = -3 + 6

y = 3
