Answer:

2x - 1 = y

2x - 1 = 2.5

Use inverse operations

2.5 + 1 = 3.5

3.5 / 2 = 1.75

2 x 1.75 - 1 = 2.5

x = 1.75

What is the length of leg s of the triangle below?
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

option A

Step-by-step explanation:

take 45 degree as reference angle

using sin rule

sin 45 = opposite / hypotenuse

\frac{1}{\sqrt{2} } = s/8\sqrt{2}

\frac{1}{\sqrt{2} } *8\sqrt{2} = s

root 2 and root 2 gets cancel

8 = s

Kyle spends an equal amount of money each day. After 4 days, he had 4/5 of his money left. After another 10 days he had $30 left
Elden [556K]
4 days spending equal amounts so if x is how much he spends per day and y is the original amount then 4x=1/5y bc he has 4/5 left meaning what he spent was 1/5 of the original and after 10 more days which was 14 total he spent all but 30 so the total minus 30 will be how much kyle spent so
14x=y-30 which is y=(14x+30) and substitute that in for y in 4x=1/5y so 4x=1/5 (14x+30)
20x=14x+30
6x=30
x=5 and plug that in either of the original equations 4(5)=1/5y
y=100
so he had $100 and spent $5 per day

Find the number that we can place in the box, so that the resulting quadratic is the square of a binomial.
Arturiano [62]

We need a number to complete

(x+c)^2=x^2+2xc+c^2

Since we have

2xc=\dfrac{4}{5}x \iff 2c=\dfrac{4}{5}\iff c=\dfrac{4}{10}=\dfrac{2}{5}

And so the expanded square is

\left( x+\dfrac{2}{5}\right)^2=x^2+\dfrac{4}{5}x+\dfrac{4}{25}
