Use the paragraph to answer the question. The poor horse was very melancholy, and wandered up and down in the wood, seeking some

little shelter from the cold wind and rain. Presently a fox met him: "What’s the matter, my friend?" said he. "Why do you hang down your head and look so lonely and woe-begone?" "Ah!" replied the horse, "justice and avarice never dwell in one house; my master has forgotten all that I have done for him so many years, and because I can no longer work he has turned me adrift and says unless I become stronger than a lion he will not take me back again; what chance can I have of that? He knows I have none, or he would not talk so." Which idea is stated explicitly in the text?

How does a new mammoth egg cell get chromosomes from each of the parents?
nikitadnepr [17]

Answer:

An egg or sperm only has half of the parent's sex chromosome pair. An egg will always have an X chromosome, since the woman's sex chromosome pair only has Xs. Sperm can have either an X chromosome or a Y chromosome. If a sperm with an X chromosome fertilizes the egg, the new cell will have two X chromosomes. One came from the father's sperm and one came from the mother's egg. Since the sex chromosome that is made is XX, the cell will grow into a girl baby.
