In <em>Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets</em> young wizard, Harry Potter returns to his second year at Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. There is a series of unexplained happenings occurring to him and his friends. He starts to hear voices no one else hears, people around the school are found petrified (turned to stone-state) school, and there is a message that Chamber of Secrets is open.  It is revealed that this Chamber was created by one of the founders to keep the purity of the magical school intact and that the chamber is supposedly protected by the monster that only his heir can control.  <u>Harry also learns that he can talk to snakes and finds a mysterious diary in which the memory of the boy, Tom Riddle, is preserved.</u> One of Harry’s best friends, Hermione, is petrified, and he and his other friend, Ron, finally enter the Chamber. There Harry finds that Tom Riddle is Lord Voldemort, the heir of Slytherin, controlling giant snake and possessing Ron’s sister to his deeds around the school. With the help of headmaster Dum*bledore's phoenix, Harry defeats the snake and memory of Tom Riddle.
