This topic is still being debated, but according to a award winning author James McPherson, he stated that "<span>The Civil War started because of uncompromising differences between the free and slave states over the power of the national government to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become states. When Abraham Lincoln won election in 1860 as the first Republican president on a platform pledging to keep slavery out of the territories, seven slave states in the deep South seceded and formed a new nation, the Confederate States of America. The incoming Lincoln administration and most of the Northern people refused to recognize the legitimacy of secession. They feared that it would discredit democracy and create a fatal precedent that would eventually fragment the no-longer United States into several small, squabbling countries."</span>

How did the Russian provisional government contribute to the outbreak of the October Revolution?
mote1985 [20]

On March 1st, 1917, the Provisional Government was established. It was intended to serve as a short-term government that would take the place of the Tsar and rule Russia until elections could be held. Major decisions were made by the Provisional Government, including the continuation of land reforms and Russia's military involvement in World War One. Both decisions severely impacted the Russian people. As a result, the administration lost support and gave revolutionaries more reason to demand its overthrow.

Growing dissent and sympathy for the Soviets were triggered by the Provisional Government's frailty, social and economic issues, and the continuation of the war. The Bolsheviks, led by Lenin, seized control.

Option C Keeping Russia in World War- I, the provisional Government led to the Outbreak of the October Revolution.
