Macbeth killed the king because he was told that he had a chance of becoming king. Macbeth knew he couldn't become king while Duncan was alive so he put the matter into his own hands and ignored the witches' advice in which he was supposed to be crowned by fate, not aggression. SO, Macbeth killed Duncan and framed the guards. later he was crowned the new king.
