2. ANALYZE. Reread lines 110-119 and identify the allusion, or reference to a well-known work that Mrs. White makes. What does t
Monica [59]

Answer:

A) The allusion can be found in lines 16 and 17. Mr Whites son had made reference to the fact that if he became an emperor, his father would no longer be henpecked.

B) Mrs White initially took the story about the paw with a pinch of salt. That is she didn't completely believe the story (if at all, that is).

Explanation:

A) To be henpecked means to be bullied or browbeaten.

Given that his son had recurrently beat him at the game of Chess, it was an ironical statement to state that an Emperor, his father would no longer have to endure such.

Recall that in lines 19 and 20 Mrs White had half sarcastically and half encouragingly told her husband that he would win the next game when all three (Father, Mother and Son) knew quite well that he was very bad at the game.

B) In lines 97-99, she had jokingly asked her husband to wish 4 hands for her so that she would be able to multi-task and or have it easier with the domestic chores.

Her disposition, however, changed after the news of the death of their son came with the 200 pounds her husband had requested.

Cheers

BRANLIEST + 100 POINTS

(I'm working with what I have, I hope what I give you is enough, if you want more details, just ask)

Answer:

Huckleberry Finn Characters:

Buck:

Buck is Huck's best friend. They are approximately the same age. Buck and Huck are opposing, because Buck's family is rich, and Huck's is poor.

Miss Sophia:

Miss Sophia is one of the Grangerford daughters. She's the one that asks Huck to go and get the Testament that she left in Church. He does, and discovers a note for her inside the book. Later that night, Miss Sophia runs away with one of the Shepherdson boys, Harney Shepherdson.

Harney Shepherdson:

Huck learns that Sophia Grangerford has run off with Harney Shepherdson.

(Sophia ran away with Harney, one of the Sheperdson boys)

Romeo and Juliet Characters:

Romeo:

Romeo is a Montague. He's Juliet's lover, and kills himself when he thinks she's dead. They were supposed to run away together, but they both die by offing themselves.

Juliet:

Juliet is a Capulet. She's Romeo's lover, and fakes her death so that Romeo and her can run away after. But because of a misunderstanding, and Romeo thinking she was actually dead, Romeo kills himself and when Juliet wakes up, she kills her self after seeing that her true love is dead.

Mercutio:

Mercuito is Romeo's best friend. He's killed by Tybalt.

Explanation:

Mercutio and Buck:

They are both best friends of the main character(s). Both are killed.

Juliet and Miss Sophia:

Both were young and in love and wanted to run away with their lovers; but it wasn't possible for them.

Romeo and Harney:

Both were young in and in love as well. They wanted to run away with their lovers too, but it wasn't possible. Both of them die.

In conclusion:

Both stories are surprisingly similar. The Grangerfords and the Sheperdsons are feuding families, and so are the Capulet's and Montague's. But here's a better explanation:

Huckleberry Finn:

The message is about how you shouldn't let your hatred get the best of you, as it can come with consequences.

Romeo and Juliet:

The message is about family feuds and holding grudges, which is what caused the tragic events to occur.

Comparison:

They both are incredibly similar because it explores the hatred towards another family. The difference between the two though, is Romeo & Juliet is more focused on the lovers, and Huckleberry Finn is more focused on consequences with hatred.

(I know that was a lot but I hope I was able to help you <3)

Leni [432]

Answer:

C) The sun illuminates only the eye of the man but shines into the eye and the heart of the child.

Explanation:

Read this quotation from Chapter I of Nature.

According to Emerson, "To speak truly, few adult persons can see nature. Note most persons do not see the sun. At least they have a very superficial seeing. The sun illuminates only the eye of the man but shines into the eye and heart of a child."
