Answer:MoreTaking a Stand vs. Winning

What counts more- taking a stand or winning? Taking a stand means more to our society today instead of winning simply because of all the determination, courage, effort and time they put into trying to make a difference. If the person were to try their absolute best and fail it is still extremely admirable for them to make the sacrifices they have made. Taking a stand shows that they will do anything in their power to stand by what they believe in not knowing what could happen to them or what they risk. Although both winning and taking a stand play a very important role in our society, taking a stand counts more because of the courage, compassion and thrive people have.

With her doing that, she brought a difference for African Americans. She had always wanted for African Americans to have the same rights as white people do since she was a little girl. When she refused to give up her seat to the white male, she didn’t know what will happen to her. Rosa Parks just stood up for what she believed in not giving a single thought about what will happen next. In the monkey paw story how does the author create a feeling or suspense or tension in the story?
qwelly [4]

Answer:

It is a stormy night.  There is a chess game going on and this in itself can be suspenseful or apprehensive.  Read the portion that describes the place and home that they live in.  The author sets the scene and the atmosphere around the characters.

Explanation:

This story was written in the early twentieth century and it reads like a Victorian story.  There is old fashioned language used and at that time the amount of money they are talking about - was a lot of money.  Just reading the portions to set the scene give you a ghost story like presence.  Remember too, that the use of a mystical object (supernatural sense) makes you get goosebumps.
