Girls received an education from their mothers and were taught things like weaving and skills necessary to manage a household. Many were also taught to read and write. Boys attended schools and had a much more varied educational experience. In addition to reading and writing, they were also schooled in things like poetry, math, and physical education.The kleroterion was a randomization devicethat was used for alloting citizens for public office and jurors for trials. Athenians were aware of the risks of corruption. A judge or a small tribunal could be bribed. Not a crowd. Athenians used to form big juries (500 people) that were selected randomly and shortly before the trial. Each citizen brought his personal ID (a piece of wood or bronze called pinakion).
