Answer:

The answer is choice C.

Explanation:

In this question, I will use the following format: two d*mbs, a trick, & a true. In this strategy, there are two d*mb answers, one answer made to trick the reader, and one true answer (which is the correct answer).

The two d*mbs of this problem are choices B and D. B simply makes no sense since immigration and migration would increase the amount of cultural and economic activity in Texas if anything. I feel as though D is illogical because it is more likely that immigration and migration would increase the need for public services in rural communities. Due to B and D being the opposite of what is necessary for the answers to be true, they can both be swiftly eliminated.

A is the trick of this question. Although it may seem valid at first, there is a fatal flaw about it: the fact that Texas is within the United States. Texas, despite its size and population, is one singular part of the US. It is impossible for Texas to be the only part of the United States to grow. As a result, the growth rate of Texas can never be the same as the growth rate of the United States.

C is the true in this problem. Immigration and migration contributing to the 38% of Hispanic Texans (as of 2010) is indeed a logical answer that adds up. Additionally, when looking at the official resources that this question is derived from, the text clearly states that <em>'The numbers and percentages of Hispanics in Texas grew greatly between 2000 and 2010. About 2.8 million more Texans identified themselves as Hispanic in 2010 compared to 2000. Hispanics represented 38 percent of all Texans compared to about 32 percent in 2000.' </em>While this information may not seem all that important at a first glance, it actually supports this answer quite a bit. The text clearly provides valid proof of answer choice C; it gives the cause of answer choice C quite plainly and undeniably.

This means that A is the trick, B and D are the d*mbs, and C is the true. Due to the evidence and verification previously stated in my answers, it is quite clear (to me) that the answer is indeed choice C.

<em>In case you're wondering, the words with apostrophes are * d u m b * and * d u m b s * . I get why they censored them, so I simply accommodated and blocked the vowel. </em>

<span>The trick here is to understand the definition of each of the cellular transport or function mechanisms listed. These are some interesting (and strange) analogies!

Facilitated Diffusion
This is when a mechanism assists in diffusing (spreading) some material into an environment. The dog on the wagon going through a spring loaded door would shoot it out into the environment. This is an odd analogy but Point 3 would be the one.

Active Transport
Is when energy is expended to transport molecules somewhere against a concentration gradient or some other barrier. Examples include transporting molecules across a cell wall. The best analogy is the dog being dragged into a bathtub (Point 1).

Phagocytosis
This is when a larger cell consumes a molecule often like eating. This matches to point 2 - the child eating the doughnut.

Passive Diffusion
Is when a concentration of molecules naturally diffuse into an environment. This suits point 5 - the crowded room full of people.

Pinocytosis
Is the budding of cell membranes to consume liquid in the surrounding environment. I guess a woman drinking tea is the closest analogy listed (Point 4).</span>

Describe the four structural roles of the skeletal system.<br> The Human SKELETAL SYSTEM
makkiz [27]

Answer:

1. Support

2. Protection

3. Movement

4. Supply & Storage

Explanation:

1. Support :  It provides a framework to support the organs and tissues of the body.

2. Protection:  It protects our internal organs.  The skull protects the brain; the thorax (sternum, ribs and spine) protects the heart, lungs and other viscera (organs within the thorax).

3. Movement:  It provides a framework for muscles to attach.  Then when the muscles contract they pull on the bones of the skeleton, which act like levers to create movement.

4. Supply & Storage:  The bones that make up the skeleton are a source of both red blood cells (which transport oxygen) and white blood cells (which fight infection), which are formed within the bone marrow.

Natural selection is an evolutionary mechanism by which _______.
torisob [31]

Answer: The correct answer for the fill in the blank is B) Advantageous traits become more common in a population.

Theory of natural selection was given by Darwin. This is one of the mechanisms of evolution.

According to this theory, organisms that are better adapted to their environmental conditions survive and increase their population by reproduction. So they pass the advantageous trait to the next generation. In other words, it reflects the survival of the fittest.

Due to this, the advantageous trait becomes more common in the population.

Thus, the correct option is B)
