Answer and Explanation:

The SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) chose Oxford, Ohio, as the location for the volunteer orientation because the place that was initially chosen, Berea College, ended up turning down the request as a result of the opposition it faced from its alumni.

The SNCC made it clear that the volunteers didn’t the have to go if they didn’t want to because, based on past experiences, the knew the volunteers could face a lot of dangers from the racism that was prevalent in the South.
