Its like one moment the boy was climbing on a playground equipment and then other moment he fell down and hurt himself really hard. When such things happen, it is very hard to process what is going on. His mind is trying to process what just happened to him and by the time his brain is able to come to a conclusion, the boy has already started crying. I can even tell this from a personal experience.
